PEOPLE from across Bolton are being invited to take part in a popular annual event to celebrate the town’s rich cultural diversity.

Spirit of Bolton will take place for the seventh successive year at Victoria Square on Saturday, July 5.

Arts, crafts, entertainment, singing, dancing, music and drama will be showcased and enjoyed by people from a range of religious and cultural backgrounds at the event, led by Bolton Interfaith Council (BIC).

Chan Parmar, strategic officer at BIC, which has representatives from all major faith communities in Bolton, said: “This is an excellent event open to all community and voluntary sector groups, as well as other organisations, to promote their good work and to raise awareness.

“We are looking also for groups from our various communities to provide entertainment through music, singing, dancing and items of cultural diversity from various groups who have settled in Bolton.

“I would be delighted to see many groups coming along to participate and be part of this wonderful community engagement event for everyone.”

Other major events being held in the town in the coming weeks include a Genocide Memorial Day service on the Town Hall steps on Thursday, June 19, from 1.30pm to 2.45pm.

Spirit of Bolton, a multicultural One Bolton event, also celebrates the town’s working partnerships, as well as providing a fun programme of activities.

It is supported by organisations including Bolton Council, Bolton Council of Mosques, Bolton Christian Community Cohesion, Bolton Hindu Forum, Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, Bolton at Home, Bolton CVS and community groups.
