A HAULAGE firm owner passed through the streets of Bolton for the final time — with his coffin carried on the back of one of his trucks.

Danny Adams died, aged 63, on May 9, leaving behind partner Angela and sons Danny and Alfie.

Mr Adams owned D Adams Haulage Contractors and his funeral procession passed through Bolton town centre yesterday with several trucks in tow.

Behind the hearse was one of his own firm’s trucks, driven by one of his former drivers.

The procession travelled along Bradshawgate, going past the Balmoral Pub, a favourite haunt of Mr Adams.

Three more trucks from the firm Globetrotter followed the funeral cortege, displaying signs reading “RIP Danny” in the window, as well as several private cars.

Mr Adams’ funeral took place at St Columbus RC Church with the committal at Overdale East Chapel.

The family said all donations would be held in a private trust to help Mr Adams’ son Alfie follow in the family tradition by obtaining his HGV licence.

Peter Mann, one of his drivers, said: “The church was absolutely full. There was standing room only. There was such a large procession and it just shows how well thought of he was.”
