LIVE music will be served together with cappuccinos and lattes at a Bolton town centre cafe.

Caffe Nero, in Deansgate, will play host to singers and musicians throughout the day on Sunday to raise money for a charity which supports widowed fathers and their children.

Kerensa Brown, store manager, said: “Live music and relaxing goes hand in hand with coffee culture but we have not actually done it before.

“Some of the Caffe Nero branches in London have done it because it’s more of a ‘thing’ down south. We’re just hoping to generate a bit of awareness and money to support them.”

All money raised will be donated to The Jennifer Charity, set up by father and son, Graham and James Edgington, whose wife and mother, Jennifer, died in a car crash in Bolton in 1985.

James, who was 16-months-old at the time, and his father set up the charity in 2010 due to the lack of support for fathers.

The pair, who found fame as semi-finalists in the 2010 series of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent as duo Father and Son, will entertain customers on Sunday, along with Alicia Jayne and other singers.

Sunday’s day of music will be the first of planned monthly events in aid of the cause and whichever Caffe Nero store raises the most money for their chosen charity between now and November will have an extra £2,000 donated by the company.

Miss Brown, aged 32, who has worked for Caffe Nero for four years and at the Bolton store for two years, said: “It’s an acoustic day. There will be entertainment, music, singing and a raffle. We are trying to make it a bit of fun.

“I’ve heard of the charity because Graham and James are regular customers. I went to a fundraiser they had last November and it really struck a chord with me.”
