Change on the way for hospital parking payments

CHANGE-ONLY pay and display machines could be replaced by “more modern versions” at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

New machines where people can pay on their mobile phones are being considered by directors at the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

Hospital bosses agreed the old machines were “inconvenient” for many visitors. Carol Davies, chair of the trust’s audit committee, told the board: “A lot people will turn up to park and won’t have any change.

“One thing people nearly always have on them is their mobile phone.

“I think change-only machines can create unnecessary stress for people at a time of high anxiety.”

Mark Harrison, a non executive director at the trust, added: “It’s becoming the norm to pay for parking on your mobile phone.”

Visitor parking charges were recently hiked up to cover the cost of extending parking facilities at the hospital.

The shake-up also saw an increase in the number of parking attendants patrolling the site .

How about free parking for patients and one free family visitors pass for these 'times of high anxiety' ?
The new £3.00 parking charge should cover it.

It's scandalous that people have to pay anything when having to visit ill relatives, They should build a multi story on the existing car park and lower the charges to £1.

Mind you walking from the residential areas isn't such a bind and good exercise. With people who have problems with walking getting dispensation IE reserved spaces.

I think you send a text to a number and it then rapes your credit, its a bum deal if you have no credit and need to get a child into A&E

Rip Off 5H1th0le Britain !!!

If they could, they would sell the clothes off your back whilst you are wearing them !!! (They may even be working on that idea as I type)

I see there are plenty of funds to cover extra patrols and make even more money, and to install new machines. Priorities just do not exist, but the powers that be will says it comes out of a different budget to 'justify' their side of the argument.

It's actually cheaper to park your car nearby to the hospital on the 501 bus route, buy a return ticket, and when you are leaving the hospital at visiting time, it's also quicker to get back to your car and be rolling off home again.

I'd rather First buses (a shower of a bus operator) have a couple of quid, be in pocket to the tune of over a pound, than the hospital financially rape me of money with a corrupt system of parking as well as lining a private parking companies bank account.

What an absolute disgrace!

Last night (just so I would have the energy to get out of bed to visit my mum in hospital who is seriously ill with cancer) I was forced to cook a meal for myself, with gas I had to pay for.

I also had to pay for the ingredients.

Then, as if that wasn't enough, I had to pay for the water to cook them in and the water to wash my pan and my eating utensils.

And I was forced to pay for the water to flush my loo.

Then, this morning I had to get out of bed, then eat my breakfast and have a drink all of which I had also paid for (same thing all over again).

Then I had to go outside wearing clothes which I have had to pay for - thankfully it was warm so I didn't have to wear too many !

Then, I had to pay for two bus journeys which cost me a tenner EACH WAY. I can't drive or afford to run a car because of health problems.

I've been doing that three times a week for the last month - just so I can see my mum in hospital.

Oh, and my dad was killed last year by a pig - ignorant **** of a motorist who couldn't be bothered to stop at a pedestrian crossing.

FOR GOD'S SAKE GET A LIFE YOU SELFISH WHINGEING IDIOTS.
