AN overgrown site nicknamed a “forest” by Tonge Moor residents will be transformed with 12 new houses.

Ashdale Construction received permission from Bolton Council’s planning committee to turn 25 Thicketford Road, a former children’s home, into a number of mews houses.

Tonge with the Haulgh councillor Nick Peel welcomed the application for the problem site, which has been a “terrible eyesore” in the area.

He added: “I am very happy to move approval.”

The Council will be delighted. All these homes going up all over Bolton, should flood the Town Council coffers. Now how do we spend it, well we could create another Directorship. A whole raft of administration, put those pesky "don't drop litter" signs up.

I think the wording "move for approval" is just a bit of meeting jargon.

After debate someone around the table "moves" a proposal for approval or indeed refusal and the committee gives their vote, view. or recommendation.

As ward Councillor it is entirely appropriate Peel makes the move.
