MANCHESTER United hero Ryan Giggs has been granted permission to expand his Worsley-based restaurant.
Salford Council has approved plans for a new first floor dining terrace for 40 diners at George’s restaurant — which is owned by the former United star and his old school friends Bernie Taylor and Kelvin Gregory.
Plans to extend the wine cellar at the venue in Barton Road were also approved at the meeting of Salford’s planning and transportation committee.
Giggs, who retired at the end of this season to become new manager Louis Van Gaal’s assistant, was unable to attend the meeting but his business partners were there.
Concerns had been raised by residents about issues including parking and noise pollution but the council approved the plans on the condition that the venue will only be open until 10pm on Monday to Friday, 11pm on Saturdays and 9.30pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
