BOLTON Hospice is making a final appeal for walkers to take part in the eighth annual Midnight Memories walk.

More than 1,000 participants have signed up for the eight-mile walk, which takes place on Saturday, June 21.

It is a big income generator for the hospice and is supported by the community, local businesses, Bolton Council and Greater Manchester Police.

As well as walkers, the hospice is looking for volunteers for the evening.

Maria Passarello, events manager at the hospice, said: “This event means so much to our participants and in return provides vital income for us to care for our patients and their families. We are very proud and grateful to everyone that supports this event it is a huge fundraiser for the hospice and we must maintain its success.”

Among the hospice’s patrons are comedian Peter Kay and actress Maxine Peake.

Last month, the hospice put out an appeal asking celebrities to support the event.

The walk will start at the stroke of midnight from Victoria Square, where there will be entertainment including live bands, dancing and a warm-up work out.

During the event, there will be a pit-stop at Meadowhill Nursery for refreshments before the second half of the walk.

Participants will receive a medal once they return to Victoria Square.

All ages are welcome to join the walk and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Anyone wanting to take part in the Midnight Memories walk must register by Wednesday, June 18.

Registration for the walk is £15 and can be done online at boltonhospice.org.uk.
