A MAN who lived for Leigh Centurions would have been honoured that the club’s mascot came to his funeral.

Gary Dawber went to every Centurions game home and away and “would have loved” the fact that Parky Pig walked in front of his coffin at St Paul’s church in Westleigh on June 4.

He died aged 44 from peritonitis, septicaemia and pneumonia in Wigan Infirmary on May 23.

His wife Tracey Dawber, of Chatham Street, Leigh, said: “He lived for Leigh. It was absolutely fantastic that the club came to the funeral — it was just a shame that Gary wasn’t there to see it for himself.

“He was my soulmate and my best friend.”
