A DAUBHILL man has raised more than £1,000 for charity in just five months.

Lallu Patel has collected a total of £1,031.13 for the Christie hospital this year, with the help of friend and family at Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Temple in Chorley Old Road.

The money has been raised through various charity box collections at Asda in Daubhill and RK Foodstore in Preston, as well as charity events hosted at the temple.

The Christie has recognised Mr Patel’s efforts with a certificate of special thanks to him, his family and friends.

He said: “The Christie is very important to me because the hospital helps so many people who develop with cancer.

“Everybody knows someone who has had the disease — I have a family member who lives in America who had it, as well as a close friend.

“I am grateful to receive the certificate from the Christie and will continue to raise money for them.”

Howard Newhall from The Christie Charity said: “We are very grateful for this generous donation of more than £1,000 from Lallu Patel and his friends and family, including members of the VHP Temple in Bolton.

“Donations like this mean we can provide enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds, and vital research. Our 30,000 supporters, helped to raise a record breaking £14.8m last year.”
