KEVIN and Emma Davies know how to throw a good party — but when it came to England’s first World Cup clash with Italy, they decided to go all out.

The fun-loving family transformed their back garden into Copacabana Beach for a huge Brazilian-themed bash on Saturday.

Three tonnes of sand were delivered to their Bolton home to create the perfect beach back-drop for the “football and feathers” fancy dress party.

Mum-of-three Emma — who wore a bikini-clad fat suit for the occasion — said: “We’ve had fancy dress parties for years but being as it was the World Cup, we thought we would do something extra special.

“Everyone went all out with their outfits — most of the boys came as footballers and the girls came covered in feathers. As well as the beach, I painted the shed yellow and my friend Alison Leslie covered it in the most amazing artwork.

“We had a bouncy castle, a photo booth and lots of cocktails.

“The actual match was a bit of a blur. We’re still clearing up now.

“But it was totally worth it. We’ve got a great group of friends up here and we all had such a laugh.”

Former Whites skipper Kevin donned a pair of tight white jeans to dress up as rapper Pitbull, who performed at the World Cup opening ceremony last week. Kevin, who now plays for Preston North End, said even England’s 2-1 defeat to Italy could not dampen the carnival vibe.

He said: “We just wanted to have a great time to celebrate the World Cup and threw a big party.

“The match itself didn’t put too much of a dampener of things either.

“I think England did okay but they’ve got a lot work to do to get out of the group.

“Uruguay losing has changed things a bit but it’s still going to be tough for England. I think Argentina, Brazil and Holland have all been impressive so far.

“I think Brazil could clinch it.

“They’ve got expectation of a nation on their shoulders but with all the home support, I think they could do it.”

England play Uruguay at 8pm on Thursday.
