A podiatrist who has raised thousands of pounds for charity is inviting people of all ages to put their best foot forward at a military fitness session.

Hilary Walton has organised the event at Claypool Primary School in Salisbury Road, Horwich, tomorrow .

The 45-year-old is raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

She has been a passionate supporter of the cause since 2001, when her aunt was diagnosed with the brain disease.

Since then, Mrs Walton, who is in private practice with the Bolton and Bury Podiatric Group in Bury Road, has raised £5,600 by trekking the Great Wall of China, organised pamper nights, Zumba classes, sales, beetle drives and sponsored walks.

She is currently raising money in support of a sponsored trip she is making to Peru in September for the charity and has already collected £3,000.

Her aim is to raise £10,000.

Mrs Walton, who has two daughters, said: “It’s a really important cause and I’ve seen how cruel it can be.

“The military fitness event is a fun challenge for all ages and all levels of fitness and we’d love to raise a lot of money from people enjoying themselves.”

Family Military Fitness will be running two separate fitness sessions, one for adults at £4 and another for children at £2.

It will take place between 3.45pm and 4.45pm.

Booking for the event is essential by calling 07745 217007.
