A NIGHTCLUB has had its licence revoked following “a catalogue of incidents”.

But the owners of Vogue, in King Street, Leigh, aim to appeal the decision, made by Wigan Council’s licensing sub committee at a hearing at Leigh Town Hall.

Police asked the council to review the licence as it feared the management was not meeting its four licensing objectives.

In a statement, owners Jason McQuoid and Martin Chapman said: “We are obviously unhappy with the decision.

"We are seeking legal advice in order to appeal the decision and the premises will remain trading as normal until a decision regarding an appeal has been made.”

The club can remain open for 21 days after the decision if an appeal is lodged, until it has been heard in court.

Police told the council the owners were not preventing crime and disorder, ensuring public safety, preventing public nuisance and protecting children from harm.

A council spokesman said: “A catalogue of incidents were referred to in the police documentation and oral evidence.

"Following a meeting in July, 2013, between the police, the licence holders and licensing officers, a minor variation application was submitted and additional conditions were imposed.

"However, it was the view of the police that this had not resulted in necessary improvements.

“The committee found that there had been some inaccuracies in the evidence submitted by the police, but were concerned that there were still a large number of incidents.”
