A PENSIONER suffered a broken leg and broken wrists in a serious car crash in Edgworth on Sunday.

The 85-year-old from Ramsbottom was a passenger in a Peugeot 206 which pulled out onto Broadhead Road - at the junction with Bury Road - next to the White Horse pub.

The car collided with a Bentley Continental which was travelling down Broadhead Road towards Bolton at about 2.40pm on Sunday.

The driver of the Peugeot - a 55 year old woman from Bury - suffered whiplash.

The driver of the Bentley, a 48 year old man from Edgworth, suffered whiplash and a large cut to the head.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

The road was closed for four hours for accident investigation.

Sgt Malcolm Bell, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal for anyone who saw this collision to get in touch with the police.”
