A TEENAGER has been arrested and bailed by police investigating a rape allegation.

A 46-year-old woman called the police on Sunday, June 15, to say she had been raped after meeting a man in Bolton town centre.

She said she met a man while she had been drinking at The Swan pub in Churchgate, Bolton.

The alleged victim was seen outside the pub with a man at about 1.30am, when the pair were up against a wall near the gates of the pub and catching attention of passers-by.

The woman got into the taxi with the man and is said to have been raped between 1.30am and 6.30am.

A 19-year-old has now been arrested on suspicion of rape and bailed until July 28 while police investigate.

Witnesses or anyone with information can call police on 0161 8561812 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
