Badger culls, business initiatives and bad teeth were the big topics discussed at the latest meeting of the full council at Bolton Town Hall this evening.

Councillors voted to recommend a ban on badger culling on council land, subject to a report to leader Cllr Cliff Morris, despite criticism from opponents that it was “quite pointless”.

The meeting also heard how a council scheme to attract business into the town centre by offering £20,000 grants has been given out to just two shops, despite 164 enquiries about the initiative.

And public health chiefs vowed to do more to improve the state of children’s teeth, as it was revealed Bolton has the poorest record for dental health in five year olds nationwide.
