A 10-year-old boy was left with a broken collar bone and cuts on his head after being hit by a car in Deane.
The young boy was hit by a red Mercedes at 4.45pm yesterday in St Helens Road, Deane.
The incident happened near the junction with Summer Street and paramedics were immediately called.
The boy was taken to hospital, where it was first thought that his injuries were very serious, but he escaped with a broken collar bone and a cut on his head that needed eight stitches.
The car involved stopped at the scene - no-one was arrested and police are believed to be treating it as an accident.
