Aaron and his girlfriend, Amy Hobson, aged 22, were killed after their car was involved in a crash with two other cars on the East Lancs Road on Sunday.

Now, family members of the couple have set up the social media group calling for traffic lights to be installed at the junction on the East Lancs where the couple were killed.

The group, entitled Traffic Lights Between Barton Road and the A5185 Lancaster Road junction, has already amassed more than 3,500 likes on Facebook.

The petition has already amassed more than 2,700 signatures.

It reads: “Prevention needs to be put in place to avoid any other family suffering a loss like this.

“We want to sort something out so this couple did not die in vain. We need traffic lights at this junction. Please help.”

Traffic lights will not stop road racers, they would see it as part of the rush.

Sadly it;'s going to make no difference - we need regular Police patrols and/or people to report idiots who drive at excessive speeds/dangerously. It's only a matter of time until the next fatal accident on that stretch of road.

FAO: the idiot who drives dangerously along Blackburn road in a green Skoda Fabia RS - next time you behave like an idiot I will be reporting you - I didn't quite get your registration number as you must have been going at 60mph+

With regards Amy and Aaron - RIP, my condolences to their families.
