BOLTON Hospice’s eighth annual Midnight Memories walk is set to raise £90,000.

More than 1,000 people took part in the eight-mile walk on June 21 to provide vital funds which go towards the hospice’s care services.

Participants pledged more than £80,000 in sponsorship and the final amount is expected to reach £90,000 with merchandise sales and support from Bolton Hospice’s corporate sponsor BetFred.

All those who took part in the walk are being urged to collect an extra £10 each in sponsorship, to help the hospice reach its original target of £100,000.

The Midnight Memories Walk is the hospice’s biggest fundraiser of the year and contributes to the £2.5 million a year it needs to continue helping local people.

All the funds raised at the Midnight Memories Walk are used to support the hospice’s specialist palliative and end of life care services for local people facing life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Alice Atkinson, income generation and communications manager at Bolton Hospice, said: “The Midnight Memories is still our biggest fundraising event and we’re delighted that the people of Bolton are still supporting it after so many years.

“We’re hoping the final total will be in the region of £90,000, which is an amazing contribution to our annual fundraising target.

“Of course this will only be possible if our walkers collect in all their sponsorship money and pay it in to us, so we’d encourage them to do this as soon as possible.

“Our original target for the walk this year was to raise £100,000, so if everyone who completed the walk could get an extra £10 in sponsorship we’ll get there, which would be fantastic.”

Walkers can pay their sponsorship by taking cash or a cheque to the hospice or by debit or credit card online at boltonhospice.org.uk.

Alternatively, payment can be made by debit or credit card over the phone on 01204 663 055 (ext. 3), or by sending a cheque (made payable to Bolton Hospice) to Bolton Hospice, Queens Park Street, Off Chorley New Road, Bolton, BL1 4QT.
