A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car crash on the M61 that left two men in hospital.
The crash, which involved three vehicles, happened at about 9.40am on the M61 southbound between junctions 2 and 1.
The cars were a Vauxhall Zafira, a Vauxhall Vectra and a Mini Cooper.
Two men, one of whom was driving the Vauxhall Zafira, have been taken to Salford Royal Hospital.
One man had lower back pain, while the other man was said to have neck pain, and neither injury is believed to be serious or life threatening.
Two wheels came off the Zafira, which was badly damaged in the crash.
Five lanes were closed because of debris on the road, causing long delays on the M61.
All five lanes were re-opened at 11.20am after the Zafira and its wheels were taken off the road.
The Highways Agency, police and ambulance service attended the scene.
A driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
