EVERYONE knows Paddington Bear loves marmalade sandwiches.

But up until now, nobody was aware which bread he used to make his favourite snack.

Now, The Bolton News can reveal the cheeky bear spends his dough on none other than Bolton’s finest — Warburtons.

The Bolton bakery has teamed up with Paddington and he even paid a visit to Warburtons’ headquarters to change the factory name to War-bear-tons.

Megan Harrison, brand and portfolio director for Warburtons, said: “Paddington and Warburtons are both much-loved British institutions.

“And Paddington is also famous for his marmalade sandwiches making Warburtons and Paddington the perfect match.

“Here at Warburtons, many of us have grown up with Paddington and we were delighted to team up with him.”

It is the first time in the bakery’s 138-year history that it has changed its name.

The War-bear-tons brand will also appear on more than six million of Warbies “Half and Half” products.

The publicity stunt was carried out ahead of Paddington’s summer adventures, which will see him hop on board the world’s first travelling loaf — the War-bear-tons Adventure Bus.

Mrs Harrison added: “Devoting our packaging to Paddington and taking him on a tour to visit families across the country is a great way to inspire families to go out and have their very own adventures just like Paddington.

“Plus they can get creative with innovative sandwich recipe ideas to help fuel those adventures along the way.”

Paddington will tour Britain in a double decker bus in the shape of a Warburtons loaf.

Families will get the chance to meet the famous bear, try his favourite marmalade sandwiches and take home a special summer adventure guide.

Warburtons will also be challenging families to spot Paddington’s bus.
