THREE motorcyclists escaped without serious injuries in a head-on crash in Belmont.

It is thought two bikes were travelling in the opposite direction when when they crashed into each other at about 6.15pm on Sunday at the top of Rivington Moor near Sheephouse Lane.

Both bikes, one of which had a pillion passenger, are thought to have stayed upright in the incident and no-one was seriously hurt, but one of the riders injured his right foot and police are now trying to trace the other rider.

It is thought the rider's foot injured by the foot peg of the other bike, which continued towards Rivington.

PC Dean Hodgeson from said: “I am looking to speak to the driver of the motorcycle that carried on towards Rivington after the incident.

“I am also keen to speak to the driver of a silver Volkswagen vehicle, possibly a Touareg, who may have witnessed in incident.

“If this is you or you have any information, please get in contact with us.”

The bike was a cruiser type vehicle with light coloured bodywork, and was being ridden by a rider and pillion passenger. Both were in dark clothes and wearing full face helmets.
