BOLTON Hospice’s latest fundraising event is set to brighten up the borough — and a few of its runners.

The hospice has launched its first ever 5K Colour Run, which will take place on Sunday, August 31, at Queens Park, off Chorley New Road.

Brightly-coloured powdered paint will be thrown at participants as they make their way around the course until they reach the finish line.

Maria Passarello, events manager at Bolton Hospice, said: “This new event is all about having fun, letting go and celebrating life. It’s something a bit different and the first of its kind in Bolton.

“We want lots of people to join in the fun this summer and raise funds for their local hospice in this really unique way.”

The powdered paint used is hygienically safe and has been tested to ensure it does not cause any harm to participants, the environment or any wildlife.

It is hoped the run will raise about £10,000 for Bolton Hospice and about 500 people are expected to take part.

Runners are asked to raise at least £50 in sponsorship.

Registration for the event costs £15 for adults aged 16 or over and £10 for children aged 15 and under.

Participants can register at boltonhospice.org.uk/colour or call 01204 663055.
