HEAVY rain and storms are expected to hit Bolton on Saturday, forecasters have warned.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the region.
Areas of heavy, thundery showers may develop over England and Wales from early on Saturday before moving northwards during the day.
A spokesman said: “Some torrential downpours are possible with frequent lightning, hail and locally strong gusts.
“Significant flooding is possible where these do occur from surface water.
“The frequent lightning, hail and strong gusts could also be an additional hazard.
“The public should be aware of the risk of disruption from any of these elements.”
Forecasters said the stormy conditions would follow a build up of very warm and humid air from mid-week onwards.
The will be the potential for large thunderstorms.
The Met Office has promised further updates on the forecast before the weekend.
