HUNDREDS of people played games as part of a sporting drive to get encourage people to get active during the summer.

Staff from Bolton Council’s sport and active living department spearheaded the three day event, which saw people try 16 different sports in Victoria Square.

Bolton Disability Sports Association offered different sports to children and adults including Wheels For All, who help in cycling activities for those people with disabilities or differing needs, and disability coached wrestling.

The 16 sports are those prioritised by Bolton Council were featured including cycling, football, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis and dancing.

Jamie Agar, disability sports development officer, said: “Hundreds of people got involved. We did the event last year as well.

"The idea was for people to come to the town centre and see what sports they can do and then we can feed them into the relevant clubs.”

People tried sprinting on temporary running tracks and tried Zumba dancing in the sun.
