IT seems the Monty Python men cannot get enough of Bolton.

The town has already received a high profile mention in the past, thanks to the famous dead parrot sketch, but in the special screening of Monty Python Live (Mostly) at Cineworld in Eagley Brook Way, it got another name check.

The show, filmed at the O2 Arena in London, showed John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle and Terry Jones, brush off their old sketches.

Cllr Christopher Peacock tweeted his delight as the Python comics acted out a sketch about a spoof gameshow called Blackmail where a woman from Preston was forced into giving money so her secret affair with a Bolton man was not revealed.

Cllr Peacock said: “The dead parrot sketch was the highlight, but we also got a mention in another sketch. The whole audience gave a cheer.”

Pathetic - the local paper has to scrape the bottom of the barrel for something that not even the residents consider news. Sad fact is, there's nothing really to shout about in Bolton nowadays so when a celebrity namechecks the town, I guess that's about as positive as you get.

I recently bought a book with loads of pictures of places in it.

I think it's called an atlas or something like that.

And guess what....I found a picture of a place called Great Britain in it and if you looked really closely, you could see the word "Bolton" in tiny letters just about half way up and a bit to the left.

I've e-mailed the BN to tell them and to see if they'll run a story on it.

I'm excited!

If you watch the Monty Python series from it's original concept the game show called "blackmail" isn't at all new. The original appeared in the 60's or early 70's and yes it mentions 'Bolton'. It is a very old gag.
