PUPILS at Rivington and Blackrod High School showed kindness and compassion to their community as they delivered six hampers to residents in Horwich as part of a project to carry out “random acts of kindness”.

The project was led by Tina and Steve Crossley, who have set up a local “life lounge”, which is a group of friends linked to Kings Church in Bolton.

They meet regularly and aim to contribute positively to the community.

The pupils spent time deciding who, out of their community, they felt deserved to receive a hamper.

They chose a number of people, including a man who collects cans nearly every day in order to raise funds for Cancer Research and people who are suffering from illness.

Three students, Lauren Fisher and Emily Adams from Year 10 and Jordan Longworth from Year Seven, delivered the hampers to those people who they felt truly deserved a random act of kindness.

Emily said: “It was so nice being able to do that, I loved seeing their faces at the door as we handed the hampers over.

“It was great to be able to brighten up somebody else’s day.”
