A NEIGHBOUR who was one of the first on the scene after motorcyclist Michael Mok crashed into a tree said he has been unable to sleep since witnessing the harrowing accident.

David McMullen, who lives in Westwood Close, near where the crash happened, said he saw the 42-year-old biker hit the tree.

The 29-year-old ran to see if he could help, but despite his and other neighbours’ efforts, Mr Mok died at the scene.

He has since, with the permission of Mr Mok’s family, put up a tribute sign on the tree, to allow local people to share their condolences.

Mr McMullen said: “I tried to do everything to save him when it happened, but I couldn’t — so I just wanted to do something for the family. His brother liked the idea.

“I didn’t sleep a wink afterwards and I told my boss I couldn’t go into work the next day, it was a horrific thing to happen.”

Mr McMullen, who has a five-year-old daughter, Lexi, has signed the tribute board.
