A DOG walker attacked in the street is still fighting for his life.

Brendan McKelvey, from Hunger Hill, was found unconscious lying across a pavement and into the road with his dog beside him.

The incident happened before 2am on Friday in Chorley Old Road, near its junction with Chorley New Road.

Mr McKelvey is in Salford Royal Hospital where he has undergone surgery to a serious head injury. He is still in a coma.

His family are looking after his black Patterdale Terrier dog.

Mr McKelvey, who has short fair hair, was wearing a dark T-shirt, dark trousers and blue trainers when he was attacked.

Police are urging people with information about the attack or Mr McKelvey’s whereabouts from 6pm on Thursday to get in touch on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
