A VAN has overturned after hitting a tree in Ringley.
The grey Nissan van span after hitting a tree and fell on its side, blocking one half of Ringley Road West.
Police were called to the scene at 6.50am today and are now directing traffic in Ringley Road while waiting for an accident recovery team to remove the van.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed that paramedics attended the scene to treat the man driving the van, who suffered minor injuries.
The driver was treated at the scene and did not go to hospital.
A Ringley Road West resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said his son was walking down to the railway station to catch the train to work when the van “just missed him”.
He said: “Apparently the van just came up and suddenly started spinning round.
“We get lots of accidents this road, it’s a really bad one.
“I’ve been here since 1998 and it has got worse in that time.
“Maybe some grip on the bend to slow drivers down, or some speed cameras, would make a difference.”
