AN aspiring model from Breightmet has the catwalk in her sights, after she won a top beauty award.

Teenager Leah Waite, aged 13, was named the Best Emerging Female Model at the glitzy UK Fashion and Beauty Awards, a category open to under-16s.

The Canon Slade pupil has been modelling for four years, appearing in commercials, fashion shows and US-based magazines.

Dad-of-three Steve Waite said her family, who live in Stanworth Avenue were “ecstatic” when Leah won.

“We’re really proud of her. It’s something that she has worked very hard for”, he said.

“There were representatives from River Island and Boots at the show. It was a nationwide event.

“She’s been inspired to be a model from a young age, and hopefully this will be the start of bigger things for her.”
