A COMBINATION of heroin and heavy drinking led to the death of a man in a bedsit, a court heard.
Jason Mullineaux had carried on drinking heavily despite being diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, Bolton Coroners Court was told.
The inquest heard how Mr Mullineaux, aged 37, lived, on and off, with his mother, Vivienne Wrigley, at her home in Medlock Close, Farnworth, but would often spend days away.
On the day of his death, March 31, he left her home at 11am, saying he was going to buy shoes.
But at 2.20pm paramedics were called to a bedsit flat in Bromwich Street, The Haulgh.
Unemployed Mr Mullineaux had collapsed on the floor, having injected heroin.
He could not be revived and was pronounced dead by doctors at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
The inquest heard how the flat’s occupant, Elwyn Jones, had seen Mr Mullineaux in Bradford Street and invited him back to his flat as it was raining.
They were drinking with a third man and Mr Jones went to buy more alcohol.
When he returned, Mr Mullineaux was collapsed with a syringe next to him.
Mr Walsh recorded a verdict that Mr Mullineaux died from misuse of heroin with alcohol.
