RADIO star Vix Robinson has gone from playing CDs to planting seeds — after launching her own gardening business.

And the green-fingered DJ has even scored her first celebrity clients — former Bolton Wanderers favourite Kevin Davies and his wife Emma.

Known fondly by loyal listeners as Vix, the 39-year-old from Horwich was left shell-shocked when she was replaced as the breakfast presenter at Tower FM earlier this year.

But the keen gardener, who has an RHS level two certificate, was soon writing a column in The Bolton News — and this gave her a push to set up her own enterprise, Vix’s Gardening and Maintenance Services.

Vix said: “When I left Tower I really didn’t know what to do. But when The Bolton News gave me the gardening column it gave me a purpose and made me realise that I wanted to do this as a career.

“I have always loved gardening since I was tiny — probably about four years old. My grandad had an allotment and my mum loved it too, so I guess gardening was in the blood.

“I have been friends with Kevin’s wife Emma for a while now and she encouraged me to go for it. She even asked me to sort out their garden, which I was honoured to do as it is beautiful.

“I think it can be quite overwhelming for people to know what to do in their gardens, so I want to not only do designing and general upkeep but I also want to educate people about how to grow and plant themselves.”

Emma said: “Vix has sorted out our garden for us and it looks amazing. My herb garden has gone from being a mass of weeds to an area I can actually walk through to collect rosemary, mint, fennel and other herbs when I cook.

“Being a female gardener is a niche market so I am sure she will be very successful. I recommend her 100 per cent and I am so excited she has agreed to be our glamorous gardener.”
