A SINGER from Bolton will appear on television tonight hoping his vocal skills will bag him £15,000.

Football coach Ryan Hardwidge, aged 27, will perform live on The Singer Takes It All — an inter-active singing show hosted by comedian Alan Carr.

The father-of-two will sing Pompeii, by Bastille, at 9pm, and is urging his fellow Boltonians to vote for him in a bid to win the cash.

Mr Hardwidge, who used to perform as a Michael Bublé tribute act, says he would spend the money on a wedding for himself and fiancée Nicola Ingham.

The former Thornleigh School pupil, who runs Goalz Academy, said: “I need to win so we can have a better wedding than the one we were going to plan.

“I’m a little bit nervous but it’s quite exciting. I sing at the odd wedding, here and there.

“I usually get invited and get asked to sing when I’m there.”

The programme gives members of the public the chance to audition directly via a free app, using their mobile phone or tablet, with other users voting performances either a ‘hit’ or ‘miss’.

Mr Hardwidge, who lives in Harwood, said: “I had a go for a laugh and I finished second out of every contestant who applied in the UK.”

He was invited to appear on the Channel 4 show and will travel to London today to appear on tonight’s live episode.

During the live show, armchair judges using the app at home will once again be handed the respon-sibility to rate perfor-mances and see the results play out just seconds later.

If judged a hit, the hopeful singer will move forward towards the Gold Zone to continue their song but, if the majority of viewers judge them a miss, they are booted out.

The most well-liked singer on each episode takes to the show’s stage one more time for the chance to walk away with a cash prize.

Presenter Alan, who also hosts Chatty Man, said: “I’ve never been involved in anything ground-breaking before.

“This app makes people at home the judge and jury, and I love that aspect of it all. The viewers get to decide whether the singer wins or disappears back to a life of misery.”

The Singer Takes It All is on Channel 4 at 9pm tonight.
