AN eight-year-old has her sight set on being Bolton’s biggest loom band fan — by making hers into a pair of glasses.

Amy Leonard, who collects the toys three or four times a week, made the glasses herself.

And Castle Hill Primary School pupil Amy is not the only one in her household being crazy about loom bands.

Her sister Caitlin, aged 11, has made a giant loom band which spans the length of seven houses on the family’s street in East Way, Hall i’ th’ Wood.

Amy said: “I made the glasses because I really like loom bands — I think they are something different.

“Children at my school started making loom bands, which is what got me interested in them.”

Caitlin, who is about to start Turton High School, said: “My loom band is larger than a measuring tape and is about seven houses long.

“It took me two days to make and I got a bit of help from my friends.

“Loom bands are something fun for kids and you can create different things with them — I’ve made a snake and an owl from loom bands before.”

Mother of the two girls, Catrina Proctor, aged 27, said: “The glasses look really impressive — they make Amy look like a superhero!

“She’s keeping them safe for now because she doesn’t want to break them.

“I like the loom band craze because there’s so much you can do with them. Amy and Caitlin and their friends love playing with loom bands and they’ve used them to make a lot of things.”
