A YOUNG woman is “almost certain” to lose the sight in her left eye after being hit with a stiletto heel in a fight on the dancefloor of a Farnworth pub.

Katrina Coucill, aged 27, was attacked after a row between two women and a man on Sunday in Ye Olde Three Crowns pub in Higher Market Street, Farnworth.

During the fight, which took place on the pub’s dancefloor, a woman is believed to have aimed a kick at Ms Coucill, catching her in the eye with her stiletto.

Ms Coucill was taken to hospital, where she was treated for a serious eye injury.

Police have now confirmed she will probably lose the sight in her eye.

Ms Coucill’s sister, Sian, has taken to Facebook to say that she is angry and upset about the attack.

She said: “(There’s) some evil vicious people in this world. Hope they catch you, you lowlife scumbags!”

Sian’s friend Caroline Mulligan replied to her post saying: “Don't let it get to you — emotions are high.

“I know it's hard at the minute but try and rise above it.”

Two women, aged 21 and 28, and a man aged 28, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They have been bailed until October 22.

A police spokesman said: “The victim is almost certain to lose the sight in that eye as a result of the attack.”

Det Sgt Patrick Wood added: “From what we have been told, we believe a woman was part of this group and she kicked out at the victim.

"She was wearing high heeled shoes and it looks like the point of the heel has made contact with her eye.

“With it being a Bank Holiday, the pub was very busy and it is likely someone would have seen what happened.

"I would appeal to anyone who was there and saw what happened or indeed those involved to contact police.”

What is with the Picture? Surely the name of the pub should be broadcast to all. Lets people know that this is the pub/dump Where a minor misunderstanding can result in you possibly losing an eye. Place is a hovel. Only Pub toilets I've ever been to where the MEN are queueing to use them (sniff sniff).
Full of wannabe be Gangstas and the 'Farnuth Mafia'. Still, if this place stays open at we all know -along with The Welcome- where all the idiots of Farnuth will be....

"Police have now confirmed she will probably lose the sight in her eye. "

Wow!

Police have confirmed a 'maybe', she may also win next week's lottery and possibly even marry a truck driver next year. What kind of writing is that, "we are sure something might happen...or might not, we'll just have to wait and see!" Is what that statement means (Police have now confirmed she will probably lose the sight in her eye. )

Pub fights are nasty affairs and bystanders often get in the way of them, often getting hurt just minding their own business. The perpetrators are quite often caught but get off with community service because they have no criminal records and were intoxicated so not in control of their own actions because clever lawyers only have one motive...money. Then, even if the courts deem the perpetrators guilty, they get a suspended sentence, an ASBO, community service or a very short custodial sentence in a minimum security facility. Meanwhile the civil suit pressed by this lass will drag on because the guilty have no money so cannot be sued for more than £4.50 because they are on JSA or disability benefits. Oh and the poor lass was also intoxicated having drank watered down beer thereby disabling her own reactions which led to her not being able to avoid the stiletto in the first place so, isn't part of the blame hers. (Clever lawyer speak for my clients are going to get off and you get nothing but I'll still get paid.)

I hope that she does not lose the eye, I hope that her attackers get locked up and I hope it doesn't happen again but I suspect that all three are unlikely to happen, but I hope to be proved wrong, good luck lass.

LOL! The large majority of the violence and general thuggery stories on the BN are from Farnworth. Shocking place full of too many awful people.

To be fair Farnworth is grim. I should know I live there.

One Halloween I was really impressed by what I thought was a zombie, a bit like Dawn of the Dead. She was swaggering about and I thought wow! she has got "in character". When I got closer I was disappointed to see it was just a local who was a bit drunk.

The sooner I move the better.

The name of the pub has been published, its the 3 Crowns on Market Street. A few letters are missing as we do things "Fawlty Towers Style" in Farnworth.

In today's society it's very difficult to bar somebody from the premises. Verbal, physical, family and building threats are all to common with the added threat of a protection racket to boot (no pun intended) I hope this girl can come to terms with her injury and that the attacker faces proper legal justice.

I was born in Farnworth, and in the late 70's actually moved away.

Then - Bird Brain that I am, I moved back!!!

It was quite rough back then, but believe me it has got a lot worse.

The Kids here, are worse than the Kids were I work.........which is Liverpool.

The Pubs are like Scenes from the Wild West, and a lot of Farnworth Residents seem to have Bad Attitudes.

Not all Farnworthians are like that, I hope I'm not, but it is true you can cut the atmosphere with a knife, round here.

I feel very sorry for the poor Girl, and I hope she recovers from her Ordeal.

Harsher treatment by the authorities for Scum like her Attackers, is needed and soon.
