THERE is endless discussion about the cultural divide between the north and south. Undoubtedly, the gap between the cost of living in the south east and the rest of the country is widening at an alarming rate.

I’m a dyed-in-the-wool northerner, so when someone tells me they are thinking about moving to the Big Smoke I look at them like they’re mad.

But following a trip to the capital, I actually think young people are developing their own language in London. I could barely contain my chuckles when a group of young 'uns got on the Tube and started chatting in what was definitely English, but not as we know it. And they sounded absolutely ridiculous. I’m sincerely hoping this isn’t just my age.
