A MAJOR drugs haul was uncovered by police who found a stash of cannabis in a taxi boot and cocaine worth £144,000 in a Bolton house, a court heard.

At Bolton Magistrates Court seven men from Bolton, Rochdale and Preston appeared accused of conspiracy to supply drugs.

Ziaullah Khan, aged 40, of Westbourne Avenue, Great Lever, and Asif Khan, aged 33, of Rosamond Street, Great Lever, are accused of conspiracy to supply cocaine, which was said to be discovered in a house in Eastbank Street, Bolton, on August 30.

Asif Khan is also charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis in July last year as are Usman Mahmood, aged 31, of Pullman Street, Rochdale; Abdul Ali, aged 24, of Rishton Lane, Great Lever; Abbas Shafiq, of Clifford Street, Rochdale; Ather Nabeed, aged 32, of Brixey Street, Preston, and Jajad Ahmed, aged 43, of Russell Street, Bolton.

Ziaullah Khan and Asif Khan were remanded in custody. The remaining five men were granted bail with conditions to report to a police station, not to contact co-defendants, to surrender passports and not to apply for travel documents and to live at their bail addresses.

Their case will be heard next at Bolton Magistrates Court on September 26.
