CUTE tot Milo Ryan-Smith will step out on his first sponsored walk in memory of his great grandmother.

The two-year-old and his proud mum Amy Reilly will complete a 2km walk in Manchester to boost funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Miss Reilly says Milo was very close to his great grandmother Babs Reilly, who died of dementia in May.

Miss Reilly, of Ivanhoe Street in Farnworth, said: “Milo and his great grandmother Babs were very close so it seemed right to do the walk in her memory.

“I have seen first hand how Alzheimer’s and dementia affects people and their families. It can be terribly cruel.

“We hope to raise awareness of the disease and encourage people to support these kinds of charities.

“Although Grandma Babs had dementia, she never let it take away her happy spirit. She was always smiling and bringing happiness to everyone around her.”

Miss Reilly, aged 31, has set up a group called Help for Happiness to fundraise for other charities.

In February, the group’s first sponsored walk around Queens Park raised more than £1,000 for Dementia UK.

Milo will take on his challenge around Heaton Park on Saturday, September 27.

Miss Reilly added: “I really hope Milo inspires other parents and children to give something back to charity. I’m so proud of him.”
