TWO more Bolton Wanderers fans have been arrested for their part in fights which broke out ahead of the opening match of the season at Watford.

Police in Hertfordshire have now arrested five Wanderers fans in relation to trouble before and after the match at Vicarage Road on August 9.

The focal point of the disorder was a brawl involving up to 30 people in Market Street, Watford at about 2.45pm.

The five men, aged 21, 21, 29, 40 and 48, who are from Bolton, Bury and Radcliffe, have all been bailed until October 30 after being arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Officers from a specialist investifation team at Hertfordshire Police made the arrests, aided by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

GMP still wishes to speak with six other Wanderers fans about their conduct at the match.

Supt Sue Jameson, from Hertfordshire Police, said: “We are taking this matter extremely seriously and the latest arrests are part of our on-going investigation into the disorder.

“These arrests send a clear message to those who may be tempted to get involved in football related violence that is this behaviour is unacceptable. The investigation is on-going and we expect further arrests to be made.”

Six people from Watford have also been arrested in connection with the incident, with all currently on bail.

Two men, aged 40 and 46, from Watford, a 19-year-old from South Oxhey and an 18-year-old from Bricket Wood have been arrested and bailed.

A 17-year-old from Croxley Green and a 17-year-old from Watford were also arrested and bailed.

They have been banned from attending football matches while enquiries are ongoing.

A Bolton Wanderers spokesman said: “We are doing everything we can to cooperate with the police over this matter.”

He also said the club had nothing more to say at this time.

Watford won the Sky Bet Championship clash 3-0.
