SOOTY and Sweep had hundreds of Bolton children under their spell yesterday as part of their sell-out 55-date UK tour.

The duo, which have become TV icons over the past 50 years, played to two full houses in Bolton’s Albert Halls, under the guidance of their puppet master Richard Cadell.

And the treat did not end there for the local youngsters.

Mr Cadell hosted a meet and greet with children after each show so they could all have their pictures taken with him and their CITV favourites.

Seven-year-old Eli Short, from Halliwell, who attended the show with his father Michael, described his favourite moment as when Sweep turned on the Gangnam Style moves, but his brother Jesse said the best part was “all of it”.

“The shows are really going down well,” said one of the four-strong Sooty and Sweep touring team, Rhian Ellis.

“Richard makes absolutely sure all the children get their chance to meet Sooty and Sweep and have their picture taken with them.”
