Here’s our guide to what you can do in and around Bolton this weekend.
1. Sup a pint or two at a real ale festival. The ninth Edgworth Real Ale Festival kicks off today, until Sunday at The Barlow, Bolton Road, and will feature a range of real ales, ciders and perries to try.
2. Don your sparkliest hotpants and enjoy a night with the Princess of Pop. Kylie Minogue is at the Phones 4u Arena, Manchester, tonight to perform classic hits and showcase tracks from new album Kiss Me Once.
3. Grab your little ones and take a journey into the sea. The Octagon Theatre, Bolton, will host Just Us Three and the Sea — featuring storytelling, activities, songs and games — at 11am and 1pm on Saturday.
4. Party to the sounds of a BBC Radio 1 Xtra DJ. CJ Beatz will be behind the decks at J2 Nightclub, Mawdsley Street, on Saturday night.
5. Have a jam to a Paul Weller tribute act on Saturday night. Smallweller will take to the stage at Henighans, Bury Road, Breightmet, playing hits by The Jam and Paul Weller, covering an astonishing back catalogue of more than 35 years.
