A GANG of four men broke in to a family’s Farnworth home — before returning to steal a car off their driveway three days later.

The thieves were caught on a CCTV camera attached to the house, using a screwdriver to break into the property on the corner of Cawdor Avenue and Grant Street, just after 2pm on Wednesday.

The gang climbed over the back gate of the property before smashing the patio doors and making their way inside.

They then left the scene after only taking a briefcase from the house.

The family-of-four did not realise that the spare car keys for their Audi A5 and A6 cars were in the briefcase before the gang returned yesterday afternoon to steal the A6 from the property’s driveway, while the residents were in the house.

The black convertible has since been found and the other car has been moved to a hidden location to have its locks changed.

A relative of the family contacted The Bolton News and said he believed the gang were specifically targeting the Audi cars.

He said: “The same thing happened to my sister last year, there’s a group targeting Audis in the north west, we need to crack down on this.

“We want to get the word out to people to keep their spare keys in a safe place.”

Anyone who has information about this incident or recognises the men in the images is urged to contact police on 101.
