VICTORIA Beckham took to Twitter to joke to her millions of followers that she had set up shop in Horwich.

The designer, known to millions as Posh Spice from her days as a pop star, launched her first shop in London last week — but took to Twitter to joke that her new enterprise was in Horwich.

She tweeted a picture of Posh Frox to her 7.85 million followers, adding: “So proud of my first store opening! Look out for my pub opening next! #PoshFrox #VBDoverSt.”

The 40-year-old wife of ex-England captain David Beckham had in fact just opened her first boutique more than 200 miles away in London’s swanky Mayfair district.

But she was clearly tickled when 34-year-old Darren Knight from Horwich sent her a snap of the local dress shop — and used the picture in her own message to fans.

Mr Knight said: “It really made me laugh.

“I was just walking down the street after getting my hair cut in Horwich and I just spotted it.

“My Twitter has been overwhelmed since.

“It’s just funny. She’s clearly got a sense of humour.”

Posh Frox, in Winter Hey Lane, has also welcomed the publicity.

Emily Kindred, aged 20, who has worked there for six months, said: “The window display that’s on the picture is the display that I put in the window that morning.

“Obviously, it’s a bit of a laugh on her behalf, but it’s good.

“Hopefully we might get a bit of business from it.

“She has just opened her own store so I thought it was really funny.

“There are a couple of dresses that she has worn in the past, about four years ago, called Diva dresses.

“We stocked those dresses and they sold out straight away.

“She is very modern and she has got her own look going on.”

Mrs Beckham’s three-storey store — in Dover Street — is the first in a series she plans to open after launching her own designer range last year.

The store stocks five Victoria Beckham collections, including a ready-to-wear range, dresses costing up to £1,500, accessories, sunglasses and denims.

Posh Frox, which also has a branch in Wigan, stocks a range of occasionwear, from full length ball gowns to short satin frocks and prom dresses, priced from £100.
