Top 5 things to do in and around Bolton this weekend

1. Grab a hanky and watch a moving play which tells the true story of a 26-year-old soldier from Bolton, plunged into the horrors of World War One. Early One Morning opens at the Octagon Theatre (pictured below) on Friday.

2. Enjoy an evening of music, light installations, art and performances with an Eastern Delights theme. Friday will see Bury town centre play host to its third annual Light Night, with Indian music, Bollywood dancing, storytelling and exotic markets.

3. Immerse yourself in games past and present at the north of England’s biggest computer gaming show. Play Expo is on Saturday and Sunday at EventCity, near the Trafford Centre, with sci-fi legends including Craig Charles and Chris Barrie from Red Dwarf, and David Prowse, Kenny Baker and Jeremy Bulloch, from Star Wars.

4. Get up close to Geordie Shore hunk Gaz Beadle at a Bolton nightclub. The MTV reality star will be at J2, Mawdsley Street, for the Zante Holiday Reunion party night on Saturday.

5. Close your eyes and pretend you are at a gig with Chris Martin (pictured below) and co when a Coldplay tribute band comes to town. Viva La Coldplay will be at Henighans Bottom Bull, Breightmet, on Saturday night to play hits including Yellow, Viva La Vida, Fix You and Paradise.
