FROM clothes shopping to ordering groceries, the digital age has changed the way many go about their daily lives.

And when it comes to beauty, the creation of dedicated deals websites means the way customers can book and go for treatments has also evolved.

Wahanda is the world’s leading online home for health, beauty and wellness, with more than 2,000 bookable spas and salons, including 21 in Bolton.

Revolutionising the way consumers shop for their treatments, Wahanda offers an appointment booking system, discounts, reviews and beauty news.

Shazli Azmi is responsible for organising the offers for her family’s business, Sass Beauty Studio, Derby Street, Bolton, on Wahanda.

Having previously offered discounts on Groupon, which offers daily deals for a range of products and services, she turned her attention to Wahanda.

Popular offers include £15 for a one hour facial treatment or £20 for a one hour chemical skin peel, saving customers about 60%.

Shazli said: “The main impact is that we have attracted a wider audience.

“We are getting people that come in from Manchester, Blackburn, Preston.

“Usually salons are very local and target the local area.

“The good thing about this is we are spreading out much further.

“It definitely brings in a mix of people.”

Shazli’s mother Shama oversees the day-today running of the salon, which has five members of staff, and also owns the clothes shop next door, Rupali.

Another discounted treatment which proves popular at the salon, which has been open for five years, is massages.

Shazli said: “The longer treatments and things like that, people come in for from a distance.

“As a consumer, you have got more options. You can see what’s around the North West.

“I work in Manchester and I live in Manchester and it’s a lot more expensive.

“Whereas you travel a bit further and you can get better offers and free parking.

“I think there’s advantages to that.

“They have got reviews so you can see what people have thought in the past.

“It brings more economy into Bolton.”

Shazli says it is worth offering the discounts at the salon, which also does make-up, laser and aesthetic beauty treatments, as it brings more people in.

She said: “We would not be leaflet dropping in Manchester.

“If we took an advert out, that would cost a lot more.

“We are reducing the price and Wahanda takes a commission but we see it as an advertising cost.

“If we were actually advertising in Manchester, Preston or Bolton, the cost would be a lot more.

“Once we get people in, they come back so it’s client retention and word of mouth too.”
