GUNS stashed in a microwave, drugs worth £5,500 and nearly £30,000 in cash were uncovered when police raided a flat.

The drug dealer guarding the guns and drugs has refused to tell his lawyers who the stash belongs to and will today be jailed “for a significant period”, Bolton Crown Court heard.

A 9mm pistol and stun gun were found in the house in Stowell Court, Halliwell, on May 27, and £29,000 of “criminally acquired cash” and £5,500 worth of cocaine were also discovered.

The court heard yesterday that the items were being looked after by drug dealer Nicky Lomax.

Lomax, aged 28, admitted possessing a firearm, stun gun and ammunition as well as a charge of concealing criminal cash and the possession of cocaine with the intent to supply.

Police raided the flat just before 6am on May 27.

Lomax, who has a partner and young son, lives two doors away from the Stowell Court property.

Kathryn Johnson, prosecuting, said: “The two firearms were recovered in the microwave in the kitchen and the cocaine, scales and cutting equipment were found in a cupboard near the bathroom.

“Lomax was fully aware of the nature of the items inside the property and was given a key to the flat and would stay with the property as a custodian when needed.”

Lomax was arrested by police and answered “no comment” to every question during interview.

The court heard Lomax has an extensive record of criminal convictions, including periods in custody.

Colin Buckle, defending, said: “I hope that all hope in him is not crushed for the future. He knows he will go into custody for a significant period.”

Lomax refused to tell his defence counsel who he was looking after the haul for.

The court heard he was in breach of a suspended sentence imposed in March this year for an assault on his own father.

He is due to be sentenced this morning.
