YOUNG bookworms were rewarded for completing this year's Summer Reading Challenge in which they crawled their way through six books over the long holiday.
A trophy was presented to St Thomas CE Primary School, Chequerbent, for winning the schools' competition for having the most readers complete the challenge.
The school had 25.95 per cent of its pupils start and complete it.
A special presentation took place at the school following an awards ceremony at Bolton Library where 20 different winners form libraries were presented with certificates by performance poet Craig Bradley.
The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays.
Youngsters sign up at their local library, then read six library books of their choice, collecting stickers and other rewards along the way.
It is supported by children's author's such as Huw Powell, Cressida Powell and Malorie Blackman.
Children have also been voting on their favourite book all summer with The Worst Thing about My Sister by Jacqueline Wilson coming out on top.
