A JOGGER collapsed while out running last night and later died in hospital.

The woman, who is aged in her 40s, was discovered in Chorley New Road at 6.30pm.

When police arrived at the junction with The Glen, they found a woman collapsed on the floor and she was taken to hospital, where she sadly died.

She was white, in her mid-40s, and of medium build and was dressed as if she had been jogging; wearing a black vest top, brown leggings, and white ‘New Balance’ trainers.

She has a tattoo of an orchid on her right hip.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the coroner has been informed.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place to establish the medical cause of death and police believe they have found the woman's family.

Formal identification of the body is still to take place.
