BODY builder Charlotte MacGill’s feminine toned curves have earned her the title of Miss Universe.

The 26-year-old from Westhoughton beat off rivals to land the coveted prize in the toned figure category at Southport Theatre.

It was the perfect follow up to her previous week’s success when she was crowned Miss England in the same category at Brierley Hill in the West Midlands.

The road to success for Ms MacGill began three years ago when she began working as a sport rehabilitation physiotherapist at Cosgrove Physio Ltd at Ashcroft’s Farm in Chorley Road, Westhoughton, owned and run by Stuart Cosgrove.

“Stuart is a bodybuilder and he got me interested in weight training,” she said. “I started to notice the changes in my body and went from there.

“Although it is a body building competition, the toned figure category is much more of a feminine look.

“Competing in international competitions is very rewarding and a lot of fun. Soon I will be competing for the UK title, which will hopefully qualify me to defend my title next year.”

The competition is administered by NABBA – the National Amateur Body Builders’ Association.

Her mentor and boss Mr Cosgrove praised the work of Ms MacGill in landing the title.

“She has trained four times a week for two hours,” he said. “She has achieved the perfect body for the toned figure class.

“Not only that, she is excellent in the role she carries out here as a rehab physio and I delighted she is here.”
