THIS young vandal is wanted by police after he stared down the lens of a CCTV camera in Daubhill before kicking it off the wall.

The bold attack on two cameras on a bungalow in Edge Hill Road took place on September 8.

A youth scaled some scaffolding before damaging two CCTV cameras in an act described as "stupid" by police.

One did not recover any footage but the second caught the thug just before he struck.

The last image captured was the youth preparing a kick out at the camera, at about 5.15 pm.

Officers now want to find the youthful vandal and are anxious that anyone who recognises him from the footage contacts them immediately.

This image is also being distributed to schools in Bolton to see if any staff or pupils recognise the boy .

PC Matt Blakeley, of Bolton South neighbourhood policing team, said: "You can see the young lad is gearing up to kick the camera off the wall and that is the last bit of footage.

"He has climbed some scaffolding to access the side of the property and then has put both his hands on the scaffolding so he can kick the camera.

"Hopefully we will be able to catch this from the appeal.

"This was a stupid and wanton piece of vandalism, as he was staring straight down the camera as he was kicking it.

"This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and anybody who recognises this lad should get in touch with police immediately."

The cameras also picked up the silhouetted image of four lads standing close to the bungalow, but not close enough to capture their features, shortly before one of them went on a vandalism spree.

The offender caught on camera, who looks as if he is in his teens, was wearing a black-and-white horizontally striped T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
